the likely abuse of power within smae. Take a closer view at the positions as itemized below:
1. Senate has no power (in the constitution) to sack a senator. You can not deny any state (or constituency) of representation.
2. The power to withdraw the representation of a lawmaker lies with his/her constituency and not with his colleagues.
3. Even their powers, as contain in their standing rules, to suspend a lawmaker are limited. You can not suspend a lawmaker for more that 14 days (or thereabout).
4. When appointees' names are sent to the senate, their duty is to consider them whether approved or rejected and it stops there.
5. The power to appoint and fire resides with the President. Senate can not compel the president to fire.
4. Senate is not police. Their responsibility is to make law not to enforce the law. They are overstepping their boundaries and have gone overboard in the case of Magu.
5. Senate has no power to summon anyone except it is for the purpose of making/reviewing law, or it has to do with the spending of public funds. If the senate is offended by statements made by an individual, they have the right to go to court to seek redress.
