A. B. Mahmoud
In preparation for the Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference of 2017 (NBA-AGC) which is scheduled to hold between  25-31 August 2017, in Lagos State, Nigeria . The foremost of the leadership of the Bar had made it a
delight to write a formal letter to all members as contained below:

Dear Esteemed Colleagues,

I am delighted to invite you to join me at the Nigerian Bar Association’s 2017 Annual General Conference scheduled to hold in Lagos from Friday 25 to Thursday 31 August 2017.

On this 57th edition of the Nigerian Bar Association’s Annual Conference, we can be proud of the achievements we have made over the decades, as we look forward to our continued efforts in taking the Nigerian Bar to unprecedented heights.

The Nigerian Bar Association, the largest body of lawyers in Africa with over 100,000 members, is the voice of the legal profession in Nigeria – it is therefore apt that at a time when this voice needs to be at its most audible, we gather together in the Centre of Excellence and Nigeria’s leading commercial city to chart the path to maintain the high standards characteristic of our profession, and to remain relevant in the increasingly globalized legal services industry.

As one of Africa’s rapidly evolving cities, and home of the headquarters of almost 50 per cent of the top 500 Nigerian companies, Lagos will be an ideal location for the largest and most prestigious event for Nigerian lawyers and legal professionals, providing an abundance of business and networking opportunities.

As the foremost convention of members and stakeholders of the legal community in Nigeria, and arguably the largest gathering of lawyers in the World, the Nigerian Bar Association’s Conference not only gives lawyers and legal professionals the opportunity to discuss continuing professional development but also provides lawyers with the forum to discuss topical national issues as well as network, share ideas and experiences.

In keeping with our goal of courageously moving the Nigerian and indeed the African Bar, upward, we are this year, strategically collaborating with iconic government leaders, major players in the economy, global business pundits as well as leaders in friendly law firms around the globe.

This edition of the Conference is not only about a ‘Brave New Bar’ intent at helping institution-building in society to ensure Nigeria, and indeed Africa, take advantage of its economies as markets of the future, it is also intended to serve as a premier networking platform for all desirous of doing business in Nigeria and other parts of the continent.

There could hardly be a better time to have this august conversation in “Eko” than when the State marks its golden jubilee anniversary, seeking not only to celebrate its heritage, but also to showcase to the rest of the country and the world its potential for growth and development.

The city of Lagos, and its rich heritage and huge potential for development align with the vision of the Nigerian Bar Association as we look to leverage our remarkable achievements over the decades, in shaping the future of the legal profession and building a Brave New Bar in Nigeria.

I urge you to join us in August, for what will be a historic forum with the potential of building a lasting legacy for our profession and country, a beautiful occasion to nurture and expand our networks, and a platform to receive world-class professional development opportunities.

I look forward to seeing you in Lagos.

Abubakar Balarabe Mahmoud, OON, SAN, FCIArb (UK)
President, Nigerian Bar Association.

We give all for Benefits...
