A workshop on how to develop a profitable career in Arbitration and other Alternative Disputes Resolution (ADR) methods took place yesterday at the Mediation Center of the Ministry of Justice.
Mrs Olatunji-Daniels, the Chief Registrar, High Court of Justice chaired the event, while Mr. Kole Ojo , Director , The Center For Practical Legal Training Ibadan led the training .
In his speech Mr Ojo said that the reason most people including lawyers are not committing to training in Arbitration and other ADR methods such as Mediation is mainly down to the fact that they are not sure how financially profitable the business of ADR is and the question of how to make money in ADR have not been addressed by trainers .
The Workshop was well attended by Legal Practitioners, experts of other professional field and Youth Corps Members.
Another key word from the workshop is specialization . He said "clients of ADR and lawyers are increasingly looking for someone with a knowledge of a subject matter involved in the dispute not a generalist " .
The event concluded with tips and advice on how to set up and run a good practice as an ADR practitioner and the routes to professional training.
