The Governor of Ekiti State and Chairman of the Govornor's Forum of the of Peoples' Democratic Party had requested from Chief Olusegun Obasanjo the refund with interest of the sum of 10 million naira donated by all PDP Governors in 2005.
The Governor said he donated the money under duress to Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, the then President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the building of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) which was recently commissioned in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Gov. Fayose made the impression that the money was donated outside his freewill and that he is entitled to a refund of same with its accumulated interests from 2005 till date.
The question is: was the money so donated as Governor of Ekiti State a personal money or that of the State?
