DOUBLE CELEBRATION OF VICTORY AND ADDED FEATHER AS JUSTICE ONNOGHEN IS SWORN IN AS THE NEW CJN


 Honourable Justice Walter Onnoghen had been sworn in as the 20th Chief Justice of the Federation. The inauguration which took place at Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja witnessed the presence of many dignitaries among whom are the Vice president of Nigeria, the Senate president of Nigeria, former Chief Justices of the Federation of Nigeria, Ministers of the Federation of Nigeria, Supreme Court Justices and Appellate court justices among others.

Chief Justice Walter Onnogen was also decorated with the award of the Grand commander of the Order of Niger (GCON) and was awarded 'Nigeria Second Highest' by Professor Yemi Osinbanjo, the Acting President of Nigeria.


                                     
you will recall that Onnoghen was appointed by President Mohammodu Buhari in acting capacity on the 10th November, 2016 upon the retirement of the former CJN, Hon. Chief Justice Mahmoud Mahammed. The name of Justice Onnoghen was returned to the senate for confirmation as substantive CJN on the 8th of February, 2017 and same was confirmed by the senate on the 1st day of March 2017.

Justice Onnoghen hails from Cross River State. At the event, the new CJN expressed his joyfulness and was grateful everyone who stood by him in prayers and pragmatic moves towards his success.

The Acting President conveyed the goodwill message of the president, President Mohamodu Buhari to the new CJN, through the Acting President, the President reiterates the fact that the new CJN is coming into office as the number one Judicial officer of the federation at a time when the confidence of Nigeria people is already lost in the system. He charged the new CJN to duties and uprightness as he wished him best of luck.
