Further to the Celebration of his 80th Birthday, Chief Olusegun
Obasansanjo had led several dignitaries, all drawn from across the globe to commission his Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) on the 4th day of March, 2017.
The multi-billion Naira Library
complex is located at Abeokuta, The Ogun State capital and same occupies an
area of land which are mapped in hectares. The Library was first lauched on the
14th day of May, 2005 and modeled after the American Presidential
Library.
The Library is the first of its
kind in Africa. According to the co-chairman of the library Board of Trustees,
Dr. Christopher, Kolade, The Library houses two million materials in book form,
15 Million documents that students from across the globe will find useful resource
materials an d several other artefacts.
The OOPL Library also has a Museum,
a mosque, a church, a relaxation pearched on a rock, several lawns and a squash
court.
