The newly sworn in president of Gambia had change the name of Gambia from the Islamic Republic of Gambia given to it by its dictatorial and ousted predecessor, Yahya jammeh.
He changed the name from Islamic Republic of Gambia to Republic of Gambia which was the original name.
Despite the country's Muslim population of 90 percent of which the remaining 10 percent is shared between Christians and Animists, Barrow maintained that the need to revert to the original name is necessary in this era of religion turbulence.
