WHY THIS YEAR NBA CONFERENCE FEES FOR LAWYERS WAS TRIPLED

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) at its ongoing National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at Lokoja in Kogi state, has passed a resolution prescribing the date and the Fees Schedule for its Annual General Conference 2017 coming up at Eko Hotels in Lagos.

The conference which has its theme as “African Business Penetrating Through Institution Building” is scheduled to hold in Lagos from Friday 18th to Wednesday 24th August 2017.

The Fees Schedule as follows:
Early bird 20th June – 19th July
Regular Fee 20th July – 9th August.
Late and onsite fee from August 10th
* 1-5yrs post call : 20K / 40K / 80K
* 6-10yrs post call: 30K/60K / 120K
* 11-14yrs post call: 40K/70K/140K

The Schedule shows a 120% hike in the conference fees as young lawyers that hitherto pay 8000 Naira are now required to pay 20000 Naira.

Reacting to criticisms that the Hike in the fees generated, a member of the Technical Committee on Conference Planning 2017 TCCP stated that the hike was to accommodate an electronic pad with one year subscription of Law reports from Lawpavillion, the NBA Partner on conference planning.

The Conference Registration portal is expected to go live this week.
